Berkeley, CA, January 17, 2013 — The Wine Auction Soirée of the East Bay announced today that its 2013 event will take place at the Claremont Resort Hotel in Berkeley on Saturday, May 4. Wine lovers will gather for an evening of fun with friends, family, and clients to bid on hard-to-get lots carefully put together by wine connoisseurs.
This year, Silver Oak and Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant will be the guests of honor at the Soiree. Each company will donate and present a rare bottle of wine at the Live Auction.
“This Wine Auction is a great way to gather wine enthusiasts from the East Bay and we’re pleased to contribute to a charitable event benefiting Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley,” says Anthony Lynch, of Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant.
All proceeds from the Wine Auction Soirée support bilingual education at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley. Funds raised at the Wine Auction Soiree will benefit educational excellence and in particular financial aid programs, instructional technology, and professional development. “We are grateful to have these funds to support socioeconomic diversity at our school and help us in our mission of educating global citizens,” says Frederic Canadas, Head of School.
To attend the event, participants should buy tickets in advance as the Soirée has a limited number of seats and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be purchased online at www.wineauctionsoiree.com.
The Silent Auction will be held during a two-hour cocktail event featuring sought-after wine lots from distinctive wineries. A gourmet dinner with wine pairings will follow. The pouring vintners for the multi-course dinner are renowned wineries, including one of our guests of honor, Silver Oak. The Live Auction includes wine and wine-related luxury packages, one-of-a-kind travel packages, and unique culinary experiences.
“The East Bay has been an untapped market for a large number of wineries and the Wine Auction Soirée is a fabulous opportunity to reach out to a select crowd of wine buyers,” says Tim Duncan, owner of Silver Oak.
Many types of sponsorship are available for the event: specific sponsorship programs exist for businesses and corporations, wineries, wine retailers, and wine-related businesses. Each program presents different levels of exposure to people who are enthusiastic about wine and food.
As an example, the Wine Retailer program invites wine merchants throughout the East Bay to participate by simply posting the Wine Auction Soiree poster (8×10) in their retail space and donating one bottle of wine possessing a retail value of $50 or above. In exchange, each merchant will be displayed on an electronic map “where to buy wine in the East Bay” where small red pins (similar to those on mobile devices) indicate each participant’s location, address, phone number, and web site. This map will be located on the Wine Auction Soirée website and on the printed event catalog for each attendee.
“This event provides such great exposure for merchants and wineries to present their products and services. The East Bay is not always at the center of wine and culinary events compared to other regions of the San Francisco Bay Area and yet, it is one of the most vibrant and economically growing regions of Northern California,” says Catrine Charron, Chair of the Wine Auction Soirée.
